While they wait to get to your customers’ hands, there are several protective steps to ensure the quality and performance of your hoses. In this blog post, we share some helpful tips on how to take care of them and give them a long shelf life –– which will be good for business. Read on to learn more.
Avoid the sun
People often make the mistake of assuming that, because hoses are typically used outdoors, they can be exposed to the sun for long stretches of time without adverse effects. This is not the case at all.
Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause hoses made of PVC to become brittle and eventually crack. Some rubber hoses can also soften under the sun, almost as if they were melting –– which affects their performance in negative ways.
As such, you should store your hoses in a shaded environment away from the sun. We also recommend avoiding high temperatures for similar reasons.
Reel it in
When you have hoses lying around, it is very easy to step on or run over them with machinery and other equipment. And while hoses might look sturdy enough to sustain just about anything, they can eventually crack or develop leaks.
As it turns out, hoses are more delicate than we might initially assume. We highly recommend reeling them in and storing them in a safe place where they won’t be damaged.
